hahaha Nemo, I'm not surprised to hear that you're not familiar with it. I went there with the tour, so I think they often try to save their cost in a way. I was some Korean in the restaurant though not that many. However, I guess it may be the same as when the tour from abroad came to Thailand, they'd go to certain restaurants which are their regulars. hum.. so I think most places I went, they target tourists =)

oh in Thailand, yeah, we use fork and spoon when the rice's on the plate. At my grandma's place, we'll have chopsticks and one spoon, then the rice's in the bowl. Then, we use the chopsticks to eat the rice (and the spoon's for the soup).

hum.. I was taught to use chopsticks, but I don't think I'm a pro or anything lol I saw my Chinese friends use the chopsticks even the rice's on the flat plate, and for me, that's difficult...

PS. Oh, you're still awake. it's already late there! How's your X'mas eve? =p

In SG, ppl use different cutlery for different dishes and setting. But chinese mainly use chopsticks. I was never taught on how to use the chopsticks the proper way and so grew up using chopsticks the wrong way and very ineffectively as well.
And usually, in Asian restaurant, the rice is served in bowls and chopsticks are used to eat from it. The image of someone using fork and spoon eating from a bowl is just not right...

Do people use spoon and fork in SG? In Thailand, we use different kinds to suit different food. Like we use spoon and fork with rice, chopsticks with noodle, knife and fork with steak. hum.. and here, people won't look at you strangely if you can't master the chopsticks usage skill and ask for spoon and fork =p

That food, it's kinda pork in the sauce (which tastes more on the salty type) with some vegetable. The square thing's like the pan, so you heat it (since I don't think anyone like raw pork =p) and yeah... it's mixed with the sauce and vegetable.. then eat it with rice.

and of course, it's big since it's shared among several people =p

and yeah, in thailand, though some ppl sell stuff on the road, but i've never seen put their stuff on the road, especially to show.

Oh my god. Now it's my turn to envy you! Beautiful sight seeing with the lovely flowers and the old town setting. As usual, the food bombardments which never fail to make me go hungry even though I just ate lunch 2 hours ago. Very interesting Korean food indeed. And yea, they use those metal chopsticks, when I came to use them I had a shock. I'm very bad at using chopsticks in the first place and I am suddenly given metal chopsticks. I surrendered and asked for spoon and fork and looked like a real idiot among my frens.
Anyway, the auntie selling her stuff IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD is really amazing... I cannot imagine that in Singapore. She'll be killed instantly by the cars.
And wat is the big square pot thingy you have for dinner? Looks impressive and big on proportions.
Looking forward to your second day :)
